Nissan Qashqai

The Nissan Qashqai is a crossover vehicle, which lies somewhere between a compact 4x4 and a family hatchback. Priced from £14,495 to £23,845 on the road, it is not cheap, but does represent good value for money.

A range of different engine options is available, 1.6litre and 2.0litre petrol and 1.5litre dCi and 2.0litre dCi diesel. Four body trims are offered, all of which come with a long list of extras. The entry level Visia has front and rear electric windows, Bluetooth connectivity, air conditioning and alloy wheels. Next up is Acenta. The N-Tec range features the Nissan Connect system, which includes a touch screen sat nav system, CD stereo with MP3 compatibility, USB interface, colour and reversing camera. Both the N-Tec and the top of the range Tekna have a sunroof and come with the additional option of four wheel drive and automatic transmission.

The used Nissan Qashqai is pleasant to drive and can handle a wide range of road conditions. The 2.0 petrol model will do 0 to 60 mph in 10.1 seconds with a maximum speed of 119mph. Petrol consumption on this model is not particularly economical with 26.4 mpg for urban driving, 42.8 mpg for extra urban and 34.9 mpg combined. Overall, performance is good and it makes for a quiet ride, although the 1.5litre diesel can be noisy until it reaches higher speeds. The car is spacious for passengers who will find it comfortable on long journeys.
