Yes and No

Yes, I did know:

Yes, I'd been told.

It would be so,

When I grew old.

 

That eyes would fail,

And fingers shake;

That skin would scale;

And joints would ache.

 

That grip would lose hold;

Brain would run slow;

This I'd been told;

This I did know.

 

That sound would fade;

Attention flag;

Mistakes be made;

Footsteps would drag.

 

But that in the old

Young blood could still flow;

I was not told,

I did not know.

 

(Being anonymous this verse prevents me from providing my normal footnote! But it seemed an apt choice for an 80 year-old siter of webs)
